The customer contacted our specialist rug care facility because their large traditional floral area rug was exhibiting a combination of heavy-to-moderate traffic soils and severe localized structural flattening from long-term placement in a prominent living area. Over time, heavy daily foot traffic had embedded abrasive dust and gritty particulates deep into the wool fibres, noticeably dulling the intricate botanical pattern and ivory colour tones. Compounding this traffic wear, the textile had sustained direct organic contamination from pet stains and embedded pet odours that home vacuums could not neutralise, as well as distinct faded areas from light exposure and prominent, crushed furniture marks left by the legs of sitting furniture. These combined issues left the fine weave looking flattened and discoloured, requiring a professional deep-immersion cleaning and fibre restoration process.
To resolve these conditions and fully restore the textile's value, our team executed a customised, in-plant immersion wash and conditioning treatment, beginning with an extensive mechanical dry-soil dusting to safely vibrate and extract deeply impacted crystalline debris from the base of the backing before introducing any fluids. We then treated the rug with specialized, enzyme-based pre-sanitisers to effectively dissolve crystallized pet urine salts and eliminate subsurface biological odours at their source. The rug was then moved to our wash floor for a gentle submersion bath utilizing fibre-safe, low-pH shampoos and counter-rotational brushes, which suspended the traffic grime and allowed our technicians to carefully steam-condition the deep furniture marks, swelling the crushed pile back to its original plush height. Finally, after a thorough high-volume, low-pressure sub-surface flush completely rinsed away all loosened soils and cleaning residues, the rug was transferred to our climate-controlled drying tower where the entire surface nap was hand-groomed to its uniform directional lay for a fully revitalised, clean, and soft finish.
