The customer contacted our professional rug care facility because their fine traditional Persian area rug was exhibiting a combination of heavy-to-moderate traffic soils and multiple structural irregularities from long-term residential use. Daily foot traffic had deeply embedded abrasive dirt and household dust into the pile, noticeably clouding the vibrant red fields and intricate floral patterns. Because heavy furniture had been placed over the textile, it displayed distinct, crushed furniture marks and localised nap distortion where the wool pile had been completely compressed. Furthermore, the rug had developed several visible pulled fibres across the ornate field, exposed white knots surfacing through the foundation from structural wear, and a delicate white cotton fringe that had become heavily tangled, unraveled, and uneven over time, leaving the high-value piece looking neglected and requiring an advanced, multi-stage restoration strategy.

Our team executed a specialised, in-plant immersion wash and fibre-treatment protocol to resolve these combined issues and fully rejuvenate the textile, beginning with an extensive mechanical dry-soil dusting to safely vibrate and extract deeply impacted crystalline grit from the base of the backing before introducing any moisture. We then subjected the rug to a gentle immersion bath utilizing fibre-safe, low-pH shampoos coupled with counter-rotational brushes, which effectively suspended the traffic grime and allowed our technicians to carefully steam-condition the deep furniture marks, swelling the crushed pile back to its original plush height. To safely manage the structural wear, our technicians hand-trimmed the loose pulled fibres to seamlessly blend with the surrounding pile, carefully adjusted surrounding yarns to minimise the prominence of the exposed white knots, and meticulously hand-detailed the perimeter by trimming, untangling, and re-securing the unraveled fringes back to a clean, uniform baseline. Finally, after a high-volume, low-pressure sub-surface flush completely rinsed away all loosened residues, the rug was transferred to our climate-controlled drying tower where the entire surface nap was hand-groomed to its uniform directional lay for a completely restored, plush, and beautiful finish.
