The customer contacted our professional rug care facility because their high-value traditional panel-patterned Persian rug was showing extensive signs of wear, deep-seated contamination, and structural damage from years of residential use. Sited in a prominent, high-traffic living area, the fine wool fibres had accumulated a heavy-to-moderate layer of gritty tracking soils and embedded dust that dulled the intricate crimson and ivory botanical panels. Compounding this traffic wear, the textile had sustained direct organic contamination from pet stains and embedded pet odours that standard home care could not eliminate, alongside severe nap distortion, deep furniture marks from heavy sitting fixtures, and numerous loose pulled fibres across the face of the weave. Structurally, the rug also exhibited visible white knots popping through the foundation lines, a frayed serged edge along the perimeter, and a delicate cotton decorative fringe that had become heavily unraveled, tangled, and uneven over time, leaving the entire piece looking severely neglected and requiring a comprehensive restoration program.

To address this extensive list of complications and restore the textile's structural integrity, our team executed a highly technical, multi-stage in-plant immersion wash and specialised detailing protocol, starting with an aggressive mechanical dry-soil dusting to safely vibrate and extract deeply impacted crystalline debris from the base of the backing before introducing any moisture. We then applied targeted, enzyme-rich pre-sanitisers to thoroughly break down crystallised pet urine salts and eliminate subsurface biological odours at their source. The rug was then transferred to our wash floor for a gentle submersion bath using low-pH, fibre-safe shampoos and counter-rotational brushes to suspend traffic grime, allowing our technicians to carefully steam-condition the deep furniture marks and lift the crushed, distorted nap back to its original plush height. To resolve the structural anomalies, our team hand-trimmed the loose pulled fibres, carefully adjusted the surrounding pile yarns to conceal the exposed white knots, stabilised the frayed serged edges to halt further unravelling, and meticulously hand-detailed the perimeter by trimming, untangling, and re-securing the unraveled fringes back to a clean, uniform baseline. Finally, after a thorough high-volume, low-pressure sub-surface flush completely rinsed away all loosened residues, the rug was transferred to our climate-controlled drying tower where the entire surface nap was hand-groomed to its proper directional lay for a completely restored, plush, and beautiful finish.
