The customer brought in their ornate floral wool area rug for specialist deep washing, moth damage treatment, and fringe restoration. The rug had accumulated heavy-to-moderate embedded soil, nap distortion across high-traffic zones, biological pet staining with lingering odours, areas of moth damage to the wool pile, and uneven, unravelled white cotton fringe along the end borders.
We carried out an extensive in-plant hand-washing, decontamination, and textile preservation process. Our specialists started with full front-and-back harmonic dusting to lift abrasive dry particles from the foundation. We submerged and hand-washed the rug using gentle, pH-balanced wool shampoos, accompanied by an enzyme bath to neutralise pet stains and organic odours. We applied a targeted botanical moth-deterrent wash to halt active infestation and protect the wool fibres from further damage. Finally, we hand-cleaned and realigned the unravelled end fringes, groomed the pile direction to resolve nap distortion, and dried the rug in a climate-controlled drying room.
