The customer contacted us for repeat specialist in-plant cleaning and backing assessment for their tufted floral area rug. The rug was suffering from latex adhesive degradation, causing the primary glue layer on the backing to break down and release fine powdery residue, while requiring a careful, low-moisture refresh following previous successful washings.
We provided a specialised low-moisture cleaning, dry soil extraction, and backing stabilisation assessment. Our technicians began with gentle, low-vibration harmonic dusting to remove embedded debris without accelerating the breakdown of the fragile latex adhesive layer. We administered a surface-controlled, low-moisture hand wash using pH-neutral wool and fabric cleaners to refresh the floral pile while preventing water saturation from dissolving the deteriorating backing glue. Finally, we groomed the pile fibres for uniform direction and dried the rug flat in a temperature-controlled dry room, returning it refreshed, clean, and structurally stable.
